Self Assessment of your Reference Request (Mandatory)

The self-assessment is a prerequisite for further processing reference requests. It provides an overview of the most important requirements to be met when naming Mercedes-Benz Group AG / Mercedes-Benz AG for reference requests. Please understand that reference communication is generally only permitted in exceptional cases. The requirements listed are the basis for processing the request and binding.


• If your request for a reference qualifies, the self-assessment must be completed correctly and completely. Take enough time for this.

1. Reference requests are possible no earlier than 3 months after the market launch of the affected product/model or after the start of the project.

Mercedes-Benz Group AG / Mercedes-Benz AG may reserve the right to set longer periods. 

Basically the reference request must have a very high added value for both partners.

Reference requests to contract awards are generally not possible.

2. The first communication of new products, models, features, processes, procedures etc. is reserved for Mercedes-Benz Group AG / Mercedes-Benz AG.

This means: For each reference we need the specific & complete material (i. e. final text, planned image material including planned captions and naming the source of the image material).
Image material:
It is mandatory to provide a caption (what can be seen in the picture)
It is mandatory to provide the source of the picture (where the picture comes from)

The planned place of publication and intended use must be specifically stated.

10. In principle, reference texts clearly, cannot focus on the Mercedes-Benz Group AG / Mercedes-Benz AG, its products, features (e.g. quality, safety) and services, but on those of the supplier.

The Mercedes-Benz Group AG / Mercedes-Benz AG and its brands cannot be mentioned in headlines and cannot be mentioned in the publication more than once or twice per page.

The reference request must represent a very high added value for both partners.
The principles of the ban on leaning/related advertising must be observed.

11. Interviews with and quotes from employees of Mercedes-Benz Group AG / Mercedes-Benz AG cannot be released, may not be included and will not be approved.

Inquiries about the use our our company’s image and word trademarks are not possible!

For example: Color or other stylistic highlighting of our company name is not permitted.
The listing of different companies in reference lists / customer lists must take place in alphabetical order. This overview must be enclosed with the request.

14. The use of images and, if applicable, video material from Mercedes-Benz Group AG / Mercedes-Benz AG for reference purposes must generally be avoided.

If image or video material is used in justified exceptional cases, it must be clear where the material comes from.

At no time it is possible that vehicles and products of Mercedes-Benz Group AG / Mercedes-Benz AG and their brands as well as the trademarks will be in the focus of the planned reference.

Exceptional cases are only if the reference request represent a very high added value for both partners.

17. Reference requests cannot contain any image material from photo shoots and film recordings on the premises of Mercedes-Benz Group AG / Mercedes-Benz AG.
It is not possible to produce video material yourself at our production locations.

18. Reference requests are only allowed for direct suppliers (not Tier 2,3).

19. Reference requests for the exhibition/demonstration of components, body shells or images of our company at trade fairs must represent a very high added value for both partners.
The exhibition of complete vehicles is not possible.

If in justified exceptional & approved cases components, body shells or images or our company at trade fairs will be exhibited, these cannot be the focus of the exhibition stand.

The planned presentation must be specifically presented in the request, including
- the provision of the trade fair stand concept,
- the planned component name(s), images - including captions & naming of the image source when using images, planned labeling of components - this information must be provided compulsorily.
